Paul Kim is a Silicon Valley entrepreneur who’s passionate about building startup technology companies, as well as working out and staying in shape. He was inspired to start this blog after his own 9-month journey towards fitness found him in the best shape of his life, after becoming overweight and unhealthy for five years while working 90-hour weeks running technology companies. He hopes that his own journey towards a healthy lifestyle can motivate other working professionals and stay-at-home-parents to take small steps to make a change for the better. Paul is a Certified Personal Trainer who loves helping people, and he has competed in multiple bodybuilding and power lifting competitions in the past, where he was fortunate enough to place in most of them.
On his off-days, Paul enjoys working out, playing soccer & basketball, traveling, and hanging out with family & good friends. Paul’s lifelong dream and mission is to start a foundation that builds specialized orphanages around the world that give orphans accelerated education and career opportunities, while providing them with the faith, hope, and love that they desperately deserve. His dream was inspired by his mother, who spent much of her childhood in an orphanage in South Korea after her parents passed away during the Korean War; his mother went on to attend Yonsei University, one of the top 2 universities in South Korea.
Currently, Paul is building a new startup company in “stealth” mode, which will be announced soon. In the past, Paul was the founding CEO of two mobile payments companies, where he raised nearly $13 million in venture capital and led the successful sale of one of the startups to a public company. Paul also worked at various management consulting firms, large technology companies like Samsung Electronics, corporate venture capital, as well as various startup tech companies. Paul received his M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth as an Edward Tuck Scholar. Prior to that, he earned dual B.A. degrees in Economics and Political Science with honors from the University of California at Los Angeles as an Alumni Scholar.
